China Moon/Red Dragon Bowl To Close Business

After more than 20 years of running a small business in Los Alamos, the owners have decided to hang up their aprons and close the doors to China Moon/Red Dragon Bowl.

“My family and I own China Moon/Red Dragon Bowl and Los Alamos has been home to our family for many years,” Daphne Chham told the Los Alamos Daily Post.

Chham had decided to pursue a higher education and pave a new career path, she said.

The last day China Moon/Red Dragon Bowl will be open for business is Dec. 24.

Did you see how busy we’ve been!? Our 60th year of serving the Los Alamos community has been a busy one for sure.

Here are some highlight numbers to show what we‘ve been doing so far this year:

  • Nearly 6,000 appointments at the Counseling Center;
  • Nearly 10,000 visits at the Youth Activity Centers;
  • 453 clients at the Counseling Center; and
  • 292 members at the Youth Activity Centers.

These next few weeks are critical for helping to meet our fundraising goals.

Local Wreaths Across America (WAA) volunteers are working hard to ensure that all veterans laid to rest at Guaje Pines Cemetery are honored this December as part of National Wreaths Across America Day.

This year Wreaths Across America Day is Saturday, Dec. 17. The community is encouraged and invited to attend this event 10 a.m. at Guaje Pines Cemetery to Remember, Honor, Teach about this community’s heroes where more than 400 wreaths will need to be placed.

Heinrich, Luján Call For Additional Emergency Food And Shelter Program Assistance For NGOs, States, Localities Serving Migrant Families

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Ben Ray Lujan (D-N.M.) are calling for $500 million in Fiscal Year 2023 Appropriations for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) so that local nonprofits, governmental social service organizations, and states/localities can continue providing humanitarian services to migrants arriving at the U.S. border.

Steam May Be Visible From LANL Through Weekend

Starting Wednesday, Dec. 7, steam will be released intermittently from a building on Los Alamos National Laboratory property as part of the operational testing of two new steam boilers.

The operation is part of an upgrade project to provide more reliable and efficient heating steam to the Laboratory. The steam will likely produce large steam clouds visible to those in and around Los Alamos County, and some might also be able to hear an intermittent loud noise associated with it.

DHS Announces REAL ID Enforcement Extended Until 2025 Due To Lingering Impacts Of COVID-19

SANTA FE — The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced Monday the enforcement of the REAL ID Act will be extended again for 24 months – pushing the implementation date to May 3, 2025.

DHS is citing the lingering impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason for the extension, stating: “REAL ID progress over the past two years has been significantly hindered by state driver’s licensing agencies having to work through the backlogs created by the pandemic.”

Traffic Camera Installation At Trinity Intersection Dec. 8

Los Alamos County has announced that traffic electricians will be installing new traffic cameras at the intersection of Trinity Drive on the southwest corner of the intersection at Diamond Drive.
