No Response for County Charter Committee

The deadline to apply for the five member committee to study utilities-related sections of the County Charter is 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21 and so far no one has submitted a letter of interest.
The Committee will include one member of Council, one member of the Department of Public Utilities’ Board, and three citizens who meet any one of the following qualifications:
- A member of the community with Management experience;
- A member of the community with Accounting experience; and
- A member of the community “at large.”

‘Bicycle Dreams’ Documentary Premieres Jan. 24

Bicycle Dreams, the award-winning feature-length documentary about the Race Across America (RAAM), will premiere in Albuquerque at the University of New Mexico’s Rodey Theatre at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24.
The screening is presented as a benefit by the Bicycle Coalition of New Mexico. Bike NM will host a second screening the following Thursday, Jan. 31 at The Screen in Santa Fe.
Guest speaker at the event will be Lisa Dougherty of Los Alamos, who will be competing in her first RAAM this summer.

Suspect Sought in Robbery of Bank of Albuquerque Branch

UPDATE: Anastacio Amador, 39, of Albuquerque, was arrested Monday, Jan. 14 in connection with the robbery of the Bank of Albuquerque at 3301 Coors Blvd. NW in Albuquerque on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013. Amador is expected to appear in U.S. District Court in Albuquerque on Tuesday. FBI special agents, with the assistance of Albuquerque Police officers, apprehended Amador during a traffic stop.

Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach, Tarah Logan, resigned her position at Los Alamos High School effective today, Jan. 14, for family reasons.
Logan had been coaching the girl’s team at the high school since June 2008.
The interim girl’s varsity basketball coach, taking over immediately will be Ann Stewart.
Coach Stewart, a graduate of Los Alamos High School, has been a head girls basketball coach at Bloomfield High School from 2004-07.

Santa Fe – A winter storm moving across New Mexico is causing dicey travel conditions for parts of the state.
Snow has hit the Albuquerque metro area as well as much of northeast New Mexico, causing slick roads.
Due to the low temperatures, the snow is not melting. The National Weather Service is predicting the conditions will worsen between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, Albuquerque and Santa Rosa and down through Vaughn within the next few hours.
