ALBUQUERQUE – Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham, N.M.-01, announced Wednesday that Applied Technology Associates (ATA) in Albuquerque has been awarded a $60 million contract by the U.S. Air Force.
Under the contract, ATA will assist the Air Force Research Laboratory’s (AFRL) Space Vehicles Directorate’s Spacecraft Technology Division in the development, evaluation and integration of new technologies, as well as innovative operational concepts. Science Cinema: Saturday Mornings at the Bradbury

The Bradbury Science Museum is proud to announce the launch of a new community video series. Beginning in 2014, every Saturday at 10:30 a.m., a different science education film will be shown in the auditorium.
The first showing will be Saturday, Jan. 4 featuring Bill Nye the Science Guy in Amphibians. In this 30-minute video, Bill explains how amphibians can live both on land and in water and demystifies the process of metamorphosis. This film is specifically geared towards children between elementary to middle school ages.

The National Weather Service reports a storm system gathering strength over southern California will move into Arizona Friday then shift across New Mexico Saturday. Rain and snow is expected to develop from west to east over the higher terrain of western New Mexico late tonight then spread into the central high terrain late Friday and Saturday.

LANL Employees Purchase Nearly 1,000 Gifts for Children/Seniors

Visitors and locals without a car, as well as those that don’t drive used to be in a bind in Los Alamos. There’s no bus service or other transportation available after 7 p.m. or on weekends. Non-drivers who need to leave the Hill to catch a plane or train were also facing a problem. Enter Los Alamos native Cindy Capelli and Los Alamos Taxi. Downtown Power Outage Affects Business Customers

Power was restored within 20 minutes to most Department of Public Utilities’ customers affected by the downtown electric outage that began just after 1 p.m. Wednesday.
An underground electric line was hit during construction resulting in an outage along Trinity Drive between Levy Lane at the Century Link Building and DP Road; it also included some businesses on Nectar Street and 15th Street.

Exposed to intense ultraviolet light and high temperatures, samples of epoxy containing multiwalled carbon nanotubes deteriorated. Nothing says Christmas quite like the sound of a brass choir performing carols. This choir happens to be composed of tubas, large and small, and is called Christmas Tubas.
