The safety of children and the integrity of the family is facing many threats today.

This Thursday, take a brief tour of some of the most pressing issues current in parental rights, study the proposed legislation to protect parental rights, and find out ways to support the development of a grassroots legislative effort to secure explicit protection of parental rights in New Mexico.

FBI Releases Latest Hate Crime Statistics

FBI News:

According to the FBI’s latest report, law enforcement agencies reported 5,479 hate crime incidents involving 6,418 offenses to our Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program in 2014. And these crimes—which often have a devastating impact on the communities where they occur—left 6,727 victims in their wake.

The latest figures are down from 2013, when 5,928 criminal incidents involving 6,933 offenses were reported.

Workplace Violence/Active Shooter Awareness Workshop Friday Nov. 20

La Vista Church is hosting a “Workplace Violence/Active Shooter Awareness and Staying Safe in Places of Worship” workshop Friday, Nov. 20 in Los Alamos.

This workshop will address the issue of violence, especially in places of worship. It will include two videos regarding the active shooter and domestic and intimate partner violence and how it can affect the workplace, schools, churches, etc. And will provide information on the three common options in an active shooter or aggressor situation. SANTA FE — The Southwestern Association for Indian Arts (SWAIA) has announced that this year’s Winter Indian Market will commence with a preview at The Santa Fe Convention Center 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Nov. 27 coinciding with the annual Santa Fe Tree Lighting ceremony on the Plaza.

Admission to the Winter Indian Market preview is $5 per person. The weekend market continues 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29. Entry is $10 per day, or $15 for a weekend pass.

Los Alamos National Laboratory is monitoring the situation unfolding in Paris, France.

Security officials are engaged with the Department of Energy (DOE) as well as federal and local law enforcement. There are no known imminent threats to DOE sites or personnel.

LANL employees traveling in France are directed to contact their manager or the Emergency Operations Center for accountability purposes.
