Letter To The Editor: What Is Justification For Trinity/Central Roundabout?
A significant number of issues have been identified with the impending roundabout at Trinity and Central, which is slated to be built next year. These issues include the following considerations:
- The current design is unsafe for trucks, buses, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrians.
- At morning and evening rush hours drivers going in the principal east-west direction will simply blow through it, stranding drivers who are not brave enough or experienced enough to barge in.
- There is likely to be a significant increase in accidents, which will bring traffic to

Letter To The Editor: Central-NM502: Maximal Concrete And Asphalt Or Walker Safety And Some Green Space
Calling all Los Alamos citizens,
The planned roundabout at Central-N.M. 502 is NOT the cat’s meow that once was touted to us citizens! Below is a pictorial comparison of two options (original NMDOT signalized and the currently planned roundabout).
Have a look at the differences in the footprint of these two options. The planned roundabout is a huge mass of concrete and asphalt. Those who have sought less concrete and asphalt will actually get lots more of it at the expense of green space and pedestrian/biker safety!
The 2007 NMDOT plan would expand Read More

Los Alamos Football Club Celtic Battle To 2-2 Tie
By Los Alamos Football Club Coaching Staff
In the fourth week of Duke City Soccer League action, the U14 coed LAFC Celtic had another great performance that resulted in a 2-2 tie against the Albuquerque’s Boys U14 AYSO Venom.
Playing with no subs, the Celtic were able to score two goals then survive a ferocious attempt at a comeback from the Venom. The Venom are ranked above the Celtic and had beaten the Celtic twice last Fall. The Celtic had to make some significant adjustments in positions with a completely new defensive line.
Charles Hill directed the defense as the center back, with Marie Read More

Los Alamos Lightning U13 Girls Soccer Team Plays To Draw
By Los Alamos Football Club Coaching Staff
The third week of action in the Duke City Soccer League found the girls Under-13 LAFC Lightning playing the Elite FC Crush to a tightly contested 1-1 draw.
A highly competitive, back-and-forth game saw the Lightning tie it up mid-way through the second half after a beautiful run from midfielder Hannah Gram resulted in a cross to Sage Wilcox who buried it in the back of the net from six yards out. Hanna Gartz was a game changer at the striker position, giving the Lightning numerous great runs with a couple of shots on goal.
The defense was solid all game with Aliya Read More

One of my fellow labmates in graduate school ate a peanut-butter and jelly sandwich for lunch every day.
I thought this was extremely weird, even if my claim to a more diverse diet was based on felafel wraps, subs and frito pies.
The weirdness was not only his devotion to this particular sandwich, but rather I thought peanut butter and jelly was a disgusting combination, something akin to spreading green pea puree on jelly-covered crackers. As you might guess, there was no peanut butter in my native Uruguay.
It was not until I entered fatherhood and was informed Read More

Pastor Granillo: Rebellious Conformation
Rebellious Conformation.
A primary purpose for all of the laws that God had given the Israelites, through Moses, was to make them distinct from the other people of the world. They were to stand out as the people of God. This distinction was more than just a part of their religion. It was more than culture. It had become a part of their very identity as Jews. It says a lot that they asked Samuel, the prophet, for a king.
Even after Samuel warned the Israelites that having a king would only serve to give them the same problems that the other nations of the world faced, they Read More
