Dance Arts Los Alamos (DALA) is now in its 24th year of bringing professional dance training and high quality performances to the community.
This weekend, two distinct performances will highlight the accomplishments of dancers ages three through adult as well as the talent and diversity of the DALA faculty. All performances will take place at the Duane Smith Auditorium Friday and Saturday May 20 and 21.

The hard work of many dedicated volunteers resulted in a successful Northern New Mexico Spring Arts and Crafts Fair. In addition to the Los Alamos Arts Council, the fair benefited from the efforts of LAVA members who posted flyers around Los Alamos before the fair.

The community is invited to join a weekly conversation about education in Los Alamos.
Seventeen people attended the first ever Coffee Klatch about education in Los Alamos, May 11 including Superintendent Dr. Kurt Steinhaus.
“It is clear that students, parents and local leaders in Los Alamos care deeply about education,” Steinhaus said.
He added that this first Coffee Klatch accomplished at least three important things:

Explore Heavens At Planetarium Show May 20
PEEC News:
Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is providing an astronomy show in the Los Alamos Nature Center planetarium at 7 p.m. Friday, May 20. Galen Gisler will use images and data from star clusters visible in the February skies to illustrate concepts in stellar evolution and discuss how chemical elements are synthesized in stars.

Registration Re-opens For Valles Caldera Runs!
SPORTS News:
The Valles Caldera Runs were rescheduled for June 18 because of bad weather in April. Registration is available on ultra signup.com.
The Valles Caldera Runs include 10k, half marathon and marathon distance runs on dirt roads and trails in the Valles Caldera National Preserve. All runs start and end at the Banco Bonita staging area.

Los Alamos High School Offers Summer Coursework
LAPS News:
Los Alamos High School will be offering Algebra 1 S2 & Geometry S2 in a traditional setting taught by a certified mathematics teacher (dates and times forthcoming).
Other core classes will once again be offered via Summer Credit Recovery (SCR) in a staff-supported environment using the online program Edgenuity. To be eligible for online credit recovery of a failed class, a student must have earned a 40 percent or better and had 10 or fewer absences. Special education courses require an update to the IEP.
