PAC 8 News:

YMCA Los Alamos Teen Center and PAC 8 Community Media Center are teaming up and offering a free video production class.

This class is a great opportunity to have fun while being creative. Students will learn the basics of videography plus more. Participants will learn to use light weight and highly versatile mirror-less camera based video rigs, including a stabilized gimbal.

The focus will be on hand held and moving shots of the type popular in action sports videos and contemporary action films. Shooting will be done primarily outside, in the downtown area and near Ashley Pond.

Once the raw video has been shot the class will move into the computer lab where each student will work independently or in pairs to assemble their own version of the video using Adobe Premier.

Instruction will be provided by PAC 8’s expert videographer and instructor Jean Gindreau and the Teen Center’s own Ryan Schultz, an avid photographer and videographer.

Following the class, participants will have the opportunity to connect with Ryan at the Teen Center to utilize the available video equipment and editing software to work on their own future projects. The Teen Center’s  goal is not a one-off class, they want to facilitate a long term creative outlet.

The Teen Center will be observing the following COVID safety procedures developed from the CDC and NMDOH guidelines and recommendations for Youth Programs:

  • Upon arrival participants will have their temperature checked and will answer standard COVID screening questions.
  • Mask usage will be required at all times by participants and staff.
  • Participants and staff will maintain standard 6ft social distancing.
  • If eating or drinking participants will move a minimum of 6 feet away from any other participants or staff.
  • Participants and staff will have ready access to handwashing stations and hand sanitizer.

Registrations will be processed in the order received, so do not delay! Limit of 6 students for the class.
