Carl Newton, now in his 18th year as a docent volunteer for the Santa Fe Opera, will present a program on the Opera’s 57th Season at 10 a.m. today, Monday Aug. 5 at the Betty Ehart Senior Center (downstairs classroom.)
“Telling stories through opera performances in ways that capture the emotional imagination of each audience member is an art requiring many artistic skills,” Newton said. “From the creators of an opera through the team that produces the realization on stage, and the performing artists that the audience hears, each of this season’s operas will be examined.”
The content of this presentation was obtained from docent training sessions, from directors and designers, participation in a symposium, and from interviews with participating personnel, Newton said. A few musical excerpts of highlights will accompany the talk.
