SHIRLEY ARMSTRONG Jan. 4, 1945 – Dec. 24, 2017

Shirley Armstrong, 72, beloved wife and mother, would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be reunited with her son, sisters, brothers, and parents. She will be painting, gardening and raising chickens to her heart’s content.

She also left instructions for her husband and children to celebrate her time here, which has now been completed. She was called to her new assignment on December 24th, 2017.

She entered this world on January 4, 1945 in Milan, Indiana, born to John and Leona Fritch. She married the love of her life, Junior Armstrong, on May 14, 1966 in the Los Alamos Christian Church. They moved to Los Alamos where they raised their two sons, David and Les. She was a homemaker and office clerk at the Los Alamos County Utilities Department.

She is preceded in death by her youngest son, Les Armstrong; her parents, Thomas and Leona Fritch; and her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband, Junior Armstrong; son, David Armstrong; daughter in law, Teri Armstrong; and four grandchildren, Christopher, Ryan, Megan, and Paige Armstrong.

Shirley was a long time resident of Los Alamos and Edgewood. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at the Valley View Christian Church in Edgewood, 170 ST Rd 344, NM-344, Edgewood, NM 87015. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer Association.
