SARA (McCann) SNOWBALL Oct. 22, 1986 – May 20, 2021

Sara (McCann) Snowball passed away unexpectedly from complications due to childbirth on May 20, 2021.

Sara was born in Harrisburg, PA on Oct. 22, 1986. She grew up in Bradenton, FL and married her high school sweetheart, Matthew Snowball after many years of engagement.

Sara attended Lakewood Ranch High School and went on to earn a Master of Education from the University of Florida and was a proud Florida Gator. Sara was a dedicated early childhood educator who always went above and beyond to ensure her students had the best education and support possible.

At the holidays, she hand-delivered wrapped books she had picked out for each student individually according to their interest and was well known as the best Secret Santa. She had a Pinterest worthy classroom with alternative seating for all of her kids to enjoy. She was able to see the potential in even her most challenged students. She was an avid reader and searched continuously for the best way to educate her students, but her ability to bond with her students made her an incredibly special teacher.

Sara taught at Bronson Elementary (Bronson, FL), Carlos Gilbert Elementary (Santa Fe, NM), Aspen Elementary (Los Alamos, NM), and Piñon Elementary (White Rock, NM). She was a published author on the challenges of teaching children from both extremes of the socioeconomic spectrum (titled The Other Side of the Playground).

Sara was also deeply dedicated to her family. Her love of reading, fun activities, and education flowed from the classroom to her time with her daughter, and she was always planning exciting outings for her family. Sara had a lifelong love of all things Disney, a love she passed down to her daughter. She had a smile that would light up any room and was always smiling. Her witty humor was always ready to make an appearance. Sara’s parting gift to the world was a beautiful, healthy baby boy named Thomas.

She leaves behind her husband Matthew, two children Ava and Thomas, her sister Katherine, niece and nephew Destiny and AJ, mother and father Linda and James, and many extended family members.

The Snowball/McCann families are completely devastated by Sara’s passing and are now trying to navigate life without their brightest light.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the family’s GoFundMe to help pay medical bills, memorial costs, and childcare for her children. https://gofund.me/ba3650af
