Obituary: Robert J. Elliott Oct. 9, 2016

ROBERT J. ELLIOTT  Oct. 9, 2016

Robert J. (Bob) (aka Red/Rojo) Elliott, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 9, 2016, in Los Alamos, NM, in the arms of his family.

The world now has a void where Bob’s exuberant, gregarious, loving, joyful, giving, optimistic, larger-than-life personality has been so alive for the last 90 years.

He was the cherished father of Nancy and Randy Vaughn and the adored grandfather of his “Best in the World” grandchildren, Morgan and Tanner Vaughn, all of Santa Fe, NM.

Bob lived in Los Alamos for the last 65 years, proudly worked for LANL for 51 years, and previously had lived, worked, and studied in Iowa and Kansas.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Nelle; his parents; and his six siblings. He wholeheartedly loved the Lord, his adoring family and all his friends, pets, fishing, hunting, waterskiing, camping, travelling, photography, college football, music, trees, lakes, flowers, oceans, mountains, fields, and life. His curiosity, excellent mind, outstanding sense of humor, and heart of gold as big as the sky will live on in all who met him and whose lives he blessed so greatly.

Bob’s immense zest for life and love of all peoples, cultures, races, religions, and ethnicities continued until his last moments on Earth. He is now filling the heavens with joyous singing and laughter, and he continues to keep close watch “over the rainbow.”

A small, family service is planned for Bob as a celebration of his eternal life. “The greatest of these is Love.” The family of Robert J. (Bob) (aka Red/Rojo) Elliott has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley. 505.747.7477, www.devargasfuneral.com.
