Surrounded by family and loved ones, Bob passed from this life Aug. 29, 2013 at Legacy Assisted Living & Memory Care, Denison, Texas, after suffering a fall while camping.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Angela Myers and husband Jerry of Amarillo, Texas, and Tamela Wingfield and husband Keenan of Caddo, Okla., grandsons Jonathan Myers and his wife Kathryn of Portland, Ore., Brandon Wingfield and his wife Marla of Caddo, Okla., and Dusty Wingfield and his wife Hanna of Russellville, Ark., and three great-granddaughters Macy, Katie and Nicole. He is also survived by his siblings, Lee Slayton, Donald Dewayne Patton, Wanda Duffy, Doris Hill, Jim Patton, and Michael Patton.
Bob was born in Mead, Okla., the first child of Robert Pearl and Minnie Patton. He attended Platter and Calera schools and went on to enlist and serve in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After the war and moving from Tulsa, Okla., he lived in Castle Rock, Colo., working for Martin Marietta Corp. In 1967 he moved the family to Los Alamos, N.M. where he was employed by Los Alamos National Laboratory in the Meson Physics Facility.
After retirement, he and his beloved RV traveled on more than 20 trips to Alaska, Canada, the Northwest U.S., and the Mexican Baja. He enjoyed time with his family and friends sharing his passion for reading, fishing, clamming, hunting, cooking, and playing “moose.” Bob never met a stranger and will be remembered by all for his sense of humor and generosity.
Friends are invited to join the family for a celebration of Bob’s life on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 at 7 p.m. at 106 La Vista Drive, White Rock, New Mexico for refreshments. In Bob’s honor the family requests donations be made to Reba’s Rehabilitation Center, 1200 Reba McEntire Lane, Denison, Texas 75020 Attention: Susan Shoemaker for a commemorative blanket warmer.
