Patrick David Carr, 51, of Los Alamos, New Mexico, passed away in his home September 28, 2016, after a valiant battle with neuroendocrine cancer.
David was an extraordinary father and an adoring and devoted husband. He always put others first and was an unselfish, wonderful, and caring friend to many. Words cannot express how much he will be missed.
David was born August 10, 1965, in Lubbock, Texas, to Charles Mather and Dorothy Ann Word Carr. He graduated from Floydada High School in Floydada, Texas, as the valedictorian of the Class of 1983. Mentored by his beloved maternal grandfather, Jim Word, he also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. David obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity.
He went on to work in informational technology and change management for Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in Dallas, KPMG in New Jersey, and Oracle in various locations. He later owned and managed his own company, After moving to Los Alamos in 2009, he served the community as a school bus driver for Los Alamos Public Schools.

David and Michelle were blessed with three children: a son, Malcolm Fraser, and two daughters, Charlotte Ann and Alexandra Marie “Sasha.”
Always giving of his time and talents, David answered the call to serve the community and church. In Los Alamos, he was a Girl Scout Leader for Troop 10348. Giving back to the Boy Scouts of America, much like his Grandfather Word, David actively led, organized, chaperoned, and encouraged Scouts at numerous campouts and events. David was an active parishioner of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Denison and Trinity on the Hill (TOTH) Episcopal Church in Los Alamos. He served on the Vestry, including 1 year as Senior Warden and 2 years as Junior Warden. He also helped launch the tweens and teen youth groups at TOTH. A champion high school debater, David shared his expertise and time mentoring and chaperoning the Los Alamos Middle School and High School debaters.
