MARSHA LYNN WENZEL Sept. 30, 1953 – July 13, 2016

Marsha Lynn Wenzel, age 62 and long-time resident of Los Alamos, NM, died Wednesday the 13th at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Santa Fe.

Marsha was born and raised in Rocky Ford, Otero County, Colorado, September 30th, 1953 to David and Kathleen Rinehart Sinding. Marsha married her husband Walter Jay Wenzel in 1973 and then raised 4 children together in Los Alamos, NM. Marsha was a loving and attentive daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. Her passions in life included not only her family but music such as playing piano, singing and song writing, sewing and art projects.

Marsha was an excellent writer both in her personal and professional life showing her talent in essays, at university and in work. Marsha faced her greatest life challenge of chronic illness with strength and determination. Marsha did not hold back anything she had to say or how she felt because she lived many days without the ability to speak at all. In the end she was not defined by her illness. Marsha is remembered as living joyously and caring for her family with a profound sense of love, loyalty, and truth.

She will be missed and we thank her for teaching us how to love and live life to the fullest. Marsha is survived by her dedicated husband of 44 years, Jay, their children Lana Toler, son-in-law Paul Toler, and grandchildren Hudson and Zetta Toler of Louisville, KY; Monica Witt, son-in-law Eric Witt, and grandchildren Adalee and Colter Witt of Los Alamos; Buddy Wenzel and daughter-in-law Maria Wenzel of Beaumont, TX; and Skip Wenzel and daughter-in-law Carrie Wenzel, and grandchildren Archer and Lila Wenzel of Parker, Colorado. Services will be held at Guaje Pines Cemetery on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 10am.
