Obituary: Kathleen Jaramillo March 7, 1963–Nov. 20, 2020

KATHLEEN LORRAINE JARAMILLO March 7, 1963 – Nov. 20, 2020

It is with an extremely heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved sister (daughter, Mother and grandmother), Kathleen Lorraine Jaramillo (Vigil).

Our beautiful sister’s life was taken tragically on Friday, November 20th, 2020 at the age of 57.

Kathy had a vibrant zest for life and a can-do attitude that will continue to be an inspiration for our whole family.

Kathy was preceded in death by our Father, Earl Joseph Jaramillo, only three weeks earlier.

She is survived by our Mother; Ruth Marcelina Jaramillo (Montoya); ex-husband and father of her children, Ivan Vigil; children, Jessica Lynn Vigil-Valerio (Brett) and Christopher Cody Vigil; grandson, Adriano Antonio Valerio; siblings, Deanna Cappelli (John), Michael Jaramillo (Kimberly), Michelle Winters (Chris), Tricia Maes (Robert), Paula Jaramillo (Patrick) and Stephanie Jaramillo (John); nieces and nephews, Christopher and Nicholas Capelli, Nathan, Mikayla and Madelyn Jaramillo, Brianna Winters, Britney Maes-Gregory, Meghan Maes, Jaida Connolly, Ailani and Peyton Barela; and her great niece and nephew, Genevieve and Maxwell Gregory.

Kathy was born March 7, 1963 in Los Alamos, New Mexico. As the eldest of seven children, she loved and nurtured her younger siblings like a second Mother. One of Kathy’s greatest joys was family, especially when she became a Mother to Jessica and Cody. She selflessly raised and cared for Jessica and Cody, while sharing their passions of camping, fishing, hunting, rodeo-life and sports among other things.

Kathy also adored her grandson and encouraged his many accomplishments, especially his love for baseball. She was an avid outdoors woman and never backed down from trying new adventures, like skiing with her sisters and traveling with her dog, Rhiata. She had an incredible flair for interior decorating, a green thumb and a passion for gardening. She was an excellent host, cook and made everyone feel welcome and feel like family. Kathy was caring and loving and had the most amazing sense of humor. Her beautiful laugh and smile will be greatly missed by her family!

Kathy attended Los Alamos High School and worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory as an Administrative Assistant and Web Page Designer. In 2019, she became an entrepreneur and started the company She Vends Incorporated.

Kathy’s funeral services have been entrusted to Rivera Funerals Cremations and Memorial Gardens of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

A rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m., this Saturday, December 12th, 2020 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish (IHM) in Los Alamos, New Mexico. A funeral mass service will be held afterwards, also at IHM. Covid restrictions will include wearing a mask and a limit of 200 people. IHM will hold a Live Stream for those who cannot attend.
