ELIZABETH BLAIR MACMILLAN April 26, 1960 – May 26, 2022

Elizabeth Blair MacMillan of Los Alamos, NM, passed away on May 26, 2022.

Liz was born April 26, 1960 in Los Alamos to Martha C. MacMillan and Donald P. MacMillan.

She was preceded in death by her parents (Martha, 2013, and Donald, 2012) and her brother, Alan (2001).

She is survived by her brother Daniel MacMillan (Juleann Fallgatter) of Washington, DC and her nephew, Kyle MacMillan of Chicago, IL.

Liz attended Los Alamos schools. She was born with Down’s Syndrome. Along with other mothers of similarly disabled children, her parents started the Los Alamos Association for Retarded Children. In thinking about what sort of occupations the children would have, they started a sheltered workshop, which eventually became Las Cumbres Learning Services, Inc. The association then built the Peach Street Group Home where Liz has lived until here sudden death. 

Liz worked at the former Los Alamos Inn for many years. She was a regular participant in Special Olympics, winning medals for swimming and running. Liz lived at Peach Street and spent weekends with her family. She was a member the United Church in Los Alamos. Liz enjoyed all the trips and other activities organized at Peach Street.
