DONALD DALE DUKE Nov. 23, 1952 – Dec. 15, 2021
Donald Dale Duke passed away with family at his side on Dec. 15, 2021, at age 69 after fighting a long illness.
Duke, as he was lovingly known to friends and family, was born in Tucson, AZ, Nov. 23, 1952. He graduated from the University of Arizona and spent his career troubleshooting and fixing broken things – from copiers to cars to computers – but his first priority was his family. He met his wife, Teresa, at the Bum Steer in 1978 and they spent the next four decades adventuring around the southwest and living life on their own terms.
Duke spent his final years in Los Alamos, New Mexico, and last few months back in his hometown of Tucson.
Duke was an avid reader, seasoned traveler, dedicated father, and loving pet owner to many animals through the years. He was an expert skier, and until last season could be found cruising the slopes of Pajarito Mountain. He recently discovered a love of electronic dance music and particularly appreciated the musical works of Mr. Pitbull the late Mr. Avicii.
He was a brilliant, strong, vibrant man that loved life, his family, and freedom; he will be deeply missed.
Duke is preceded in death by his father Claude Duke, and his faithful cat, Bob. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Teresa, his children: Dana and William (fiance Katie), and his niece LeAndra. He also leaves behind his mother Ada, and siblings Gary, David, Tina, Debra, Jeff, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held January 8th in Tucson AZ at the JW Marriott Starr Pass. Please consider donating to your local cat shelter in memory of Duke.
