DAVID GARDNER Oct. 9, 1940 – May 15, 2026

David Gardner, of Bernalillo, passed away on May 15, 2026, at the Clear Sky Rehab Hospital in Rio Rancho. He was born October 9, 1940, in Provo, Utah to Ross and Lila Menzies Gardner.

The family moved to Price, Utah, then to Los Alamos, NM. He graduated from Los Alamos High School, attended Brigham Young University and served a mission in Brazil for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. 

After graduation from BYU, he married Patricia Anne McNeill and they moved to Albuquerque for him to attend Law School at UNM. After graduating from Law School they moved to Santa Fe where he worked for the State, later moving to Bernalillo, where he worked for the Sandoval County Legal Aid Society and eventually opened his own practice.

He was pre-deceased by his parents and a sister, Lois Ann Prichard. 

He is survived by his widow, Patricia Gardner, sons, Justin and Alexander Gardner and daughters, Caisa Pope, Caran Taggart, Megan Stratford, Kimberly Holbrook and Davera Gardner. He is also survived by a sister, Wendy Hauer and brothers, Douglas and Robert Gardner, a brother-in-law, Bruce Prichard, twenty-seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was an avid Scouter, loved fishing, was active in his Church and a member of the Optimist Club and the Sandoval County Historical Society and active in his community where he volunteered for many projects.

A memorial service will be held on July 21, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the LDS Chapel, 275 W. Avenida Bernalillo, in Bernalillo.
