CHRISTOPHER ROBERT VIGIL Nov. 9, 1987 – March 15, 2021

Christopher R. Vigil, 33, unexpectedly left our world to chase new adventures on March 15, 2021.

Chris was born to parents Robert and Holly Vigil on November 9, 1987, and raised in Los Alamos, NM. He graduated from Los Alamos High School in June of 2006 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in July of 2006. While in the Navy, Chris studied to be a Sonar Technician.

After his graduation, he moved to Jacksonville, FL and was assigned to the U.S.S. Farragut (DDG-99) where he stayed until his Honorable Discharge in July 2012. Chris had many adventures in the Navy and visited South America, the Mediterranean and the Middle East.

Chris continued his government career while living in Virginia Beach, VA at Lockheed/Martin, General Dynamics and Leonardo DRS. He finally made his way back to his green and red chile and the laid back way of life in New Mexico and Los Alamos in November 2020.

Chris was a goofball and had a great sense of humor; he could make anyone laugh when he regaled us with his stories. He was full of warmth and love and if you were his friend, it was for life. While he was in the Navy, Chris began reading voraciously and he developed a love for the universe and the stars.

He was a proud veteran and loved his shipmates as well as his family and friends. He will always be remembered and forever missed.

Chris was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Robert and Susie Vigil and his maternal grandfather Bill Olson.

He is survived by his parents Robert and Holly, his sister Katrina Vigil-Naranjo (Matt), his maternal Grandmother Lyn Olson, his maternal uncles Eric Olson (Mary) and James Olson (Danielle), his paternal Aunt Mary Alice Anderson (Mike) and Uncle Ed Vigil, as well as his cousins.

Chris was beginning to develop a relationship with a beautiful woman in his life, Erin Sullivan, who may have been his true love. Chris is also survived by his shipmates on the U.S.S Farragut.

Chris was cremated and inurned at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on May 10, 2021. We will be having a celebration of life for Chris at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 1:30 P.M. We are also hoping to Zoom the service.

Fair Winds and Following Seas. Shipmate You Stand Relieved.
We Have the Watch.
