Carol C. Wall, 96, passed away peacefully in the presence of family and loved ones on September 26, 2013. Carol moved to Los Alamos, NM in December 2006 to be close to son Gary.

Born in Marietta, Ohio on December 6, 1916, she moved with her mother to Denver, CO in 1939 following her father’s death. It was there that she met Larry Wall.They were married on July 5, 1941. Shortly after Larry left for 4 years of service during WWII. Carol singlehandedly raised their first son, Larry, Jr. (currently of Monterey, CA) until 1945 when her husband returned from Europe.

She went on to have two more sons, Gary (June) of Los Alamos and Gene (Pattie) of Lebanon, KS.

Carol supplemented her full-time homemaking duties by doing the bookkeeping for her husband’s construction business.

After her husband’s death in 1997, Carol resided with Gene and Pattie in Golden, CO. She moved to Los Alamos in 2006 after Gene and Pattie relocated to Kansas. Carol lived at Aspen Ridge Lodge for 6 years. She moved back to son Gary’s house under the care of Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Hospice Service. A Nurse in the Family provided 24 hour a day help for Carol and her family.

She is pre-deceased by husband, Larry, sisters Ruth and Olive and brother Dean.

Her 3 sons, grandaughter Leslie of Boston, MA, grandson Ryan (Katie) of Littleton, CO and great-grandaughters Karli and Shelbi survive her.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Aspen Ridge Lodge, Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Hospice staff and volunteers, and A Nurse in the Family Caregivers. Thank-you also to Drs. Carolyn Linnebur and Madhavi Garimella who were so helpful and supportive during Carol’s final days.

Carol will be interred with her husband at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

Funeral arrangements were provided by DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM, Drinkwine Family Mortuary in Littleton, CO and Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Carol’s memory to Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Service, 2202 Canyon Rd., Los Alamos, NM 87544.
