ANDREW HIME March 22, 1964 – June 23, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew Hime, 58, in California June 23, 2022.

Andrew is the beloved son of Anne and David Hime and much-loved brother of Stephen (Amy) and Louise (Gary) and sons Adam (Haley) and Aaron. Andrew is uncle to Sarah (Yash), Justin (Mackenna), Angela and Steven (Nicki). He also leaves behind relatives in England and many friends around the globe in the places that he lived, worked and traveled.

Andrew was born in England March 22, 1964 and emigrated to Canada at age 3 with his family. He spent his formative years in Chatham, Ontario then studied physics and completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees at the University of Guelph. He continued his graduate work at Oxford University in England and earned a Ph. D. for his research in particle physics.

During his career as a physicist, he received the prestigious Oppenheimer Award at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico where he worked for many yearsIn 2005 Andrew was inducted as a Laboratory Fellow. Andrew was deeply involved with work at the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO). This work contributed to science that culminated in the award of the 2015 Nobel prize to the head of the SNO project. He finished his physics career with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Washington.

Andrew will be forever missed by family and friends. A celebration of life will be announced to remember Andrew at a future date
