Obituary: Allan Lacy June 6, 1938 – May 25, 2018

ALLAN LACY June 6, 1938  May 25, 2018

Allan Lacy, 79, passed away peacefully May 25, 2018 with his son Keith by his side.

Allan was born June 6, 1938 to George and Esther Lacy near Valley Forge, PA. Allan was raised on the family farm and was the youngest of seven children. He graduated High School and went on to join the Army where he specialized in Explosive Ordinance Demolitions.

While serving in the Army, he met and fell head over heels in love with Delores Ruth King. They married December 20, 1957. With Delores by his side, Allan continued serving his country and retired from the United States Naval Reserve after 25 years.

Allan started another career in the newspaper business, beginning in Childress, TX and continuing in Carlsbad, NM at the Current Argus where he worked for over 20 years. Allan loved and served his Lord. He was a longtime member of the Blodgett Street Baptist Church, served as a Deacon and was an “adopted” member of the youth group. Allan knew no strangers, and his laugh was infectious because it came from his heart. One of his grandsons said “Pop was 100% the coolest dude that ever lived!”

Allan was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Delores and his son, John. He is survived by his son, Keith (Lesley) and grandchildren, Carter (Taylor), Tyler, and Kevin Lacy. The family would like to thank the Sombrillo Nursing Facility staff and Ambercare Hospice for their loving and attentive care for Allan.

Burial will take place on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 9:45 a.m. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Blodgett Street Baptist Church in Carlsbad, NM. The family of Allan Lacy has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley. 505.747.7477www.devargasfuneral.com.
