The National Weather Service (NWS) in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag Warning until 8 p.m. today for Los Alamos and other areas in the state.
Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
While temperatures will be much cooler today, an extremely dry airmass with widespread and long duration single digit relative humidity values will be combined with strong to very strong west to northwest winds.
This will yield critical fire weather conditions areawide below significant snowpack. Strong winds and low relative humidity values will persist Thursday across northeast New Mexico.
