Northern New Mexico Citizens’ Advisory Board Seeks New Members

NNMCAB News

The U.S. Department of Energy is recruiting members to the Northern New Mexico Citizens’ Advisory Board (NNMCAB).

The Board is a site-specific advisory board to DOE, which is chartered under the Federal Advisory Committee Act and advises the Environmental Management Los Alamos Field Office through a formal recommendation process on environmental remediation and waste management activities at Los Alamos National Laboratory and surrounding communities

NNMCAB Executive Director Menice Santistevan Santistevan said members are appointed by the Assistant Secretary for Environmental Management to a two-year term on the NNMCAB and are selected from the communities in Northern New Mexico impacted by past, present and future LANL activities and represent broad geographic, cultural and ethnic demographics.

“No previous experience or background is required; only a willingness to work with other citizens to provide meaningful opportunities for collaborative dialogue among the communities of Northern New Mexico, the DOE, LANL and state and federal regulatory agencies,” she said.
