NNMRAC Extends Deadline For SRS Funding Proposals

USDA News:

SANTA FE  The Northern New Mexico Resource Advisory Committee (NNMRAC) has extended the deadline for proposals for projects under Title II of the Secure Rural Schools (SRS) and Community Self-Determination Act until Aug. 15, 2016.

Eligible projects must enhance forest ecosystems and restore and improve land health and water quality on the Cibola, Santa Fe, and Carson National Forests and adjacent lands in Taos, Sandoval, Mora, San Miguel, Rio Arriba, Torrance, McKinley and Cibola Counties.

The NNMRAC has up to $473,000 to allocate to projects through the congressional re-authorization of the SRS program. The NMMRAC will recommend proposals and Title II monies to the Regional Forester for the Southwestern Region of the USDA Forest Service based on each participating county’s Title II allocation.

The NNMRAC works closely with Forest Service land managers to recommend projects that benefit forest health, fish, wildlife, soils, watersheds, and other resources; maintain, de-commission or remove roads; improve trails and other infrastructure; or control noxious weeds. Contact the District Ranger for the corresponding District where your project is located prior to submitting an application for Title II funds.

NNMRAC projects must be located within the counties of Taos, Sandoval, Mora, San Miguel, Rio Arriba, Torrance, McKinley and Cibola with a corresponding benefit to the Carson, Cibola or Santa Fe National Forests. Eligible applicants include Tribal and local governments, small businesses, non-governmental organizations and Forest Service field units.

Project submission forms, other application materials and instructions are available here.

All project application materials must be hand-delivered or postmarked by Aug. 15, 2016, to the NNMRAC staff at the national forest where the project is located:
