NMSP: Felix Romero Surrenders Peacefully

LAS VEGAS, N.M. – Around 11 a.m. today, Felix Romero walked into the New Mexico State Police Office in Las Vegas, N.M. and surrendered peacefully.

Romero, 22, had escaped Nov. 30 from the Miguel County Detention Center. He broke a window in the reintegration building and walked away from the facility.

Romero was incarcerated to the facility for an outstanding bench warrant for failure to appear and a probation violation. Romero has a history of trafficking a controlled substance, battery on a peace officer, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, and criminal damage to property.

He was taken into custody today and booked into the San Miguel County Detention Center.

Romero was charged with the following:

  • Escape from jail 4th Degree Felony; and
  • Criminal damage to property Petty Misdemeanor.
