NMDWS Conducting Public Hearing For Proposed New Mexico Healthy Workplaces Act Regulations Wednesday

NMDWS News:

ALBUQUERQUE — New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) will be conducting a public hearing Wednesday, Dec. 15, to accept comments on proposed regulations for implementation of the Healthy Workplaces Act (HWA), a new law passed by the Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham earlier this year.

The HWA requires private employers in New Mexico, regardless of size, to provide paid sick leave to employees beginning July 1, 2022. This legislation also authorizes the Labor Relations Division (LRD) of NMDWS to disseminate regulations for implementation and enforcement of the Act.

NMDWS published notice of the upcoming public hearing Nov. 10, 2021 and invited interested individuals to submit written comments. Comments will be accepted through Dec. 14.

Those wishing to make oral comments on the proposed regulations may do so during the virtual public hearing scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021. Written comments may be submitted prior to the hearing by mail to Andrea Christman, New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions, P.O. Box 1928, Albuquerque, NM 87103 or by sending an email to Andrea.Christman@state.nm.us. Written comments must be received no later than 5 p.m. Dec. 14.

Information and links to the virtual hearing can be found on the NMDWS website.
