NMDOT Working Hard To Keep Roads Clear

NMDOT News:

SANTA FE â€“ The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) is working hard to keep state maintained roads safe and clear as snow continues to fall in many portions of New Mexico.

The NMDOT snow removal crews are concentrating their attention on the main thoroughfares (interstates and state highways) at this time as these roads are the heaviest traveled.

The NMDOT has approximately 800 team members on our snow removal crews. They operate in 12 hour shifts around the clock during inclement weather incidents.

Motorists are urged to be careful if they must travel during this storm. Slow down, wear your seatbelt and give plenty of room between your vehicle and the one in front of you. Use caution on ramps, bridges and overpasses as these are likely to freeze first and stay frozen the longest.

Visit the NMDOT website at www.nmroads.com, for updated road information as it is called into headquarters from crews in the field. The NMDOT 511 road hotline is linked to the information on the website.
