ESPAÑOLA – The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) would like to alert the travelling public to a pavement rehabilitation project set to begin Monday May 24 in the Española area.
Cutler Repaving Inc. is set to begin work on a pavement overlay project on N.M. 76, starting at Mile Marker 0 and finishing at Mile Marker 10. The project is expected to last 28 working days and will include new pavement and striping over the entire 10-mile length of the project.
Work will occur outside of rush hour traffic to minimize delays to motorists in the area. The northbound lane will be closed 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. while work is being performed on that side of the roadway, and the southbound lane will be closed 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. while work is being performed there.
There will be traffic control personnel at each end of the closure, and a pilot car on hand to guide motorists through the work zone each day. At the end of each workday, all traffic control devices will be removed, and the roadway reopened to motorists.
Due to the narrow confines of the roadway, oversized loads will be prohibited from passing through the project area until work is completed.
Motorists are advised to expect delays through the area and to plan their travels accordingly.
