NMDOT: New Roundabout Work On Winter Suspension

NMDOT News:

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) and Star Paving have announced that, because of winter weather conditions and the limited amount of work that can be accomplished as a result, the State’s Roundabout/Road Construction project on the eastern edge of Los Alamos will be placed on winter suspension beginning Thursday, Dec. 24.

Crews have been preparing the project area this week in anticipation of a 3-month winter shutdown; work is scheduled to resume late March 2021, weather permitting.

During this time, access to Canyon Road from N.M. 502 will remain closed and detoured to 4th Street at the roundabout.

Traffic control signs and devices will be monitored during the winter work suspension. Street lighting has been installed and is in a “round-the-clock operation” to comply with a required 30-day testing period.
