New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) remonds residents near New Mexico’s ongoing wildfires they are now at risk of flash-flooding.

NMDOT advises residents to monitor the daily forecast for rain, especially if they are near or downhill from burn scars.

Dangerous conditions can form within minutes and may turn into mudslides with fast-moving debris.

Anyone needing assistance should an evacuation occur, is advised to call call 800.432.2080. For emergency assistance, dial 9-1-1.

Anyone who cannot evacuate shoould get on the roof of a car or a home if necessary.
