ALBUQUERQUE — Gateway Christian, Pecos, St. Michael’s, Albuquerque Academy and La Cueva were all honored Monday at the NMAA/NMADA Fall Leadership Conference Luncheon for claiming the Nusenda Director’s Cup for the 2021-2022 school year.
The Nusenda Director’s Cup is awarded annually to the top New Mexico Activities Association member schools in each classification based upon success in activities, athletics, and sportsmanship.
Gateway Christian High School took home the Class 1A cup while claiming one blue trophy in football.
In Class 2A, Pecos High School earned the cup through a year highlighted by its state championship in boys’ cross country.
St. Michael’s High School claimed the Class 3A cup while winning state championships in boys’ swimming & diving, boys’ track & field, and girls’ track & field.
In Class 4A, Albuquerque Academy took home the cup winning state championships in boys’ soccer, girls swimming & diving, boys’ tennis, girls’ tennis, boys’ golf, girls’ golf, and mock trial.
La Cueva High School claimed the Class 5A cup by way of its state championships in volleyball, boys’ tennis, and girls’ tennis.
