SANTA FE – The Legislative Education Study Committee (LESC) will meet May 29-30, 2025, in Room 322 at the State Capitol Building in Santa Fe.
The committee is scheduled to hear an update on federal education funding, special education differentials, and an update on recent court decisions in the Martinez-Yazzie consolidated education sufficiency lawsuit.
The Public Education Department (PED) will also present the department’s strategic plan for education in New Mexico.
Additionally, LESC staff will be reviewing budget outcomes related to education in House Bill 2 and providing the committee with a proposed work plan for the 2025 interim, an update on the LESC Roadmap, a review of proposed PED administrative rules, and a presentation of the proposed LESC 2025 meeting schedule.
