Tai Chi Sun Class Offered At BESC Monday

The Centers for Disease Control or the CDC recommends a seated, Tai Chi course for those with arthritis.

A Tai Chi Sun (pronounced soon) class, open to the community, will take place 10:30 a.m., Monday at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.

The program is a kickoff to National Fall Prevention Week and designed for fall prevention and overall health and wellness. 

Many illnesses have considerable concern for falls and the addition of a few skills is beneficial, whether one is 30 or 90.

Did you know that you have your very own history museum? Executive Director Liz Martineau of the Los Alamos Historical Society and Museum said that she believes they belong to the people of Los Alamos.
The popular destinations serve, through a combination of sources including:
  • 47 percent from fundraising and donations;
  • 25 percent from gift shop sales; and
  • 28 percent from Los Alamos County.
This month residents can add to the portion of fundraising revenues by attending their 2019 Gala. The gala is Saturday, Sept.

Catch Of The Week: Sextortion Email Scams

What could be more annoying than an email scam? How about an email scam that accuses you of watching porn, claims to have hijacked your computer, recorded you watching said porn, and states that unless you send them Bitcoins within a certain time, they will send the videos of you to all of your contacts.

Yeah, this is certainly more annoying than your standard email spam. This entire set up is a well-known scam known as the “sextortion” email spam.

These scams have been an ongoing issue for quite some time, with a sharp uptick at the beginning of 2019.

In this fishing report, certain species of trout are referred to as “stocked” and “wild.” Anglers may be confused by this or wonder what the difference is.
A “wild” trout is a fish that is the result of natural reproduction in the waters that these fish inhabit. The primary example of a wild trout would be a brown trout.
Brown trout were originally found in Europe and Asia. They were introduced across North America in the late-19th and 20th centuries.

If it could go wrong  it did for the Toppers in the game against the Cleveland Storm played Tuesday at the Cleveland High School Gymnasium in Rio Rancho.

Stable Canyon Prescribed Burn Planned For Weekend

SANTA FE Fire managers on the Jemez Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) are planning to implement the previously announced Stable Canyon prescribed burn on the Jemez Ranger District as early as Saturday if conditions, including fuel moisture levels, air quality and forecasted weather, remain favorable.
Crews will use hand and aerial ignitions to treat the 1,595-acre Stable Canyon unit east of Porter Landing. Depending on conditions, it may take up to three days to complete operations on Stable Canyon.
