NMDWS News:

ALBUQUERQUE — A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for Sept. 27 for the grand opening of the Raton New Mexico Workforce Connection Center co-located within the Human Services Department (HSD) building.

“I’m happy to announce that we have returned to the Raton community to provide in-person services to employers and folks who have lost their jobs or are looking for jobs,” said New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) Secretary Sarita Nair. “Being co-located with the Human Services Department allows us to serve the public in a convenient location and deliver essential services that benefit everyone in the area.”

The event will be attended by Secretary Nair who will be joined by Raton Mayor Neil Segotta Jr., Municipal and County officials, Raton Ambassadors and Joseph Weathers, Chair of the Northern Area Workforce Development Board.

“We welcome New Mexico Workforce Connection to our building,” HSD Secretary David R. Scrase, M.D.  said. “Having a single building where New Mexicans can obtain state services is just good business.”

“After more than ten years without a local office, we are proud to invest in the local infrastructure and officially open this new Workforce Connection office in Raton, where all the partners who are working on job training, education and job placement are collocated and working together,” Weathers said. “This Workforce Connection “One Stop” center is going to improve peoples’ lives by making it easier for employers and job seekers to connect and get the training they need to land that great job.”

“It’s a great opportunity for the area,” Segotta said. “It’s going to make it a lot easier for the surrounding areas to get resolution in finding jobs, able to meet face to face instead of doing things over the phone like we’ve had to for so many years.”
