New Mexico’s Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail Front-runner In USA Today Contest

STATE News:

New Mexico is known as the epicenter for green chile and its most beloved culinary treasure, the green chile cheeseburger.

USA Today announced the 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards, and the New Mexico True Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail is a front-runner. The New Mexico Tourism Department is asking that residents display their pride and vote for New Mexico’s beloved Cheeseburger Trail.

With more than 100 stops on the Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail it is truly a one-of-a-kind destination for travelers. Green chile cheeseburgers are featured from across the state ranging from local favorites such as Blake’s Lotaburger and Bob’s Burgers, to small town diners like the Route 66 Restaurant in Santa Rosa on Historic Route 66. While New Mexican’s did not invent the burger, they are proud to be the ones who added the green chile.

The USA Today travel section is known for featuring the best destinations in the world. The 10 Best Readers’ Choice section ranges from Best Romantic Inns to Best Places to Propose, and of course, Best Food Trails.

The Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail is competing against 19 other competitors that include the Hoosier Pie Trail, and Texas BBQ Trail. Voting ends at 10 a.m. MST Monday, Aug. 17. To keep New Mexican pride alive, vote once a day until the contest ends. Voters are encouraged to use email and social media channels to vote.
