New Mexico Tech Reps. Visit Los Alamos June 18

New Mexico Tech representatives will be visiting Los Alamos the week of June 18. The purpose of the visit is to increase collaboration in both education and research.
 
The visit will kick off with an Alumni reception at 6 p.m., June 20 at Unquarked. The reception will include light hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available. The alumni reception will be hosted by Dr. Stephen Wells (President), Dr. Douglas Wells (Vice President of Academic Affairs), Dr. Van Romero (Vice President of Research), and Dr. Lorie M. Liebrock (Dean of Graduate Studies). President Wells will speak briefly about the changes at NMT and the future of the institution.
 
The NMT leadership team will meet with LANL leadership on the morning of the 21st to discuss opportunities for strengthening education and research collaboration. This discussion will include topics such as distance and on-campus educational opportunities for laboratory staff (and interns), research topics that can be used for theses and dissertations, education and research funding, and collaborative proposals for increasing funding for education and research.
 
Finally, NMT faculty and leadership will hold recruiting meetings 1-4:30 p.,-m. June 21 in the LANL Study Center. These sessions will include brief presentations on academic programs that are available at least partially via distance delivery, how to apply to graduate school at NMT, and will answer questions.
