New Mexico State Science and Engineering Fair

EDUCATION News:

Los Aamos sent 27 6-12th graders to the 62nd New Mexico State Science and Engineering Fair on the New Mexico Tech campus in Socorro April 4-5.

New Mexico Science and Engineering Fair is an affiliate of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) and is bound by the rules governing that organization. The fair also is a member of the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA). NMSEF is a non-profit program hosted by New Mexico Institute of Mining & Technology (New Mexico Tech).

Financial support for the Fair comes from New Mexico Tech, the State of New Mexico, registration fees and donations from a number of foundations, as well as corporate and individual donors. The expenses for the trips to the International Science and Engineering Fair of the four state finalists and their sponsors are paid for by NM Science and Engineering Fair.

To qualify for the New Mexico Science and Engineering Fair (NMSEF), students must compete in one of the six regional science fairs and be selected to represent that fair at NMSEF. There is no minimum age limit; however, students who will have reached their 21st birthday before next May 1 are not eligible to participate.

The fair is separated into two divisions. The Junior Division includes students in grades 6-9. The Senior Division includes students in grades 9-12. Each division is further divided into categories.
