New Mexico State Police Participate In MCSAP Operation

NMSP News:

During the week of March 27-31, 2023, the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) conducted a variety of inspections to keep the roads of New Mexico safe.

The goal of MCSAP is to reduce commercial motor vehicles (CMV) involved crashes, fatalities, and injuries through consistent, uniform and effective CMV safety programs.

The Eunice Weight Pad, Hobbs Port of Entry, Loving Weight Pad, and the Carlsbad Port of Entry were all locations where this operation took place.

The operation resulted in State Police CMV officers conducting:

  • 30 Level 1 inspections;
  • 723 level 2 inspections; and
  • 130 level 3 inspections.

Officers issued 180 moving citations and 199 Equipment Violation citations.

MCSAP would also like to recognize Transportation Inspector Javier Gonzales and Officer Michael Wheeler for their efforts during this operation. Their hard work combined with the efforts of their peers showed a positive impact for the community they serve and keeping our roadways safe.
