New Mexico State Police Investigate Fatal El Rito ATV Crash

NMSP News:

RIO ARRIBA COUNTY — The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) investigated a fatal ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) crash June 3, on State Road 110 and Forrest Road 559, near the El Rito Campgrounds.

The initial investigation indicated that Darrick Ocana, 35, of El Rito was operating a 2020 Can-Am side-by-side ATV near the El Rito Campgrounds. For unknown reasons, the ATV rolled. Ocana was ejected from the ATV and suffered fatal injuries.

He was pronounced deceased by the Office of the Medical Investigator on the scene.

Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in this crash and seatbelts were not used.

This crash was investigated by the New Mexico State Police.
