New Mexico Food Recalls Decrease By 26 Percent

FDA food recalls can have serious implications for the average consumer.

To better understand the FDA food recalls, in a new study the team at ExerciseBike.net analyzed five years of FDA Weekly Enforcement Reports to uncover both the incidence and causes of food recalls by state. 

Here’s how New Mexico fared:

  • New Mexico saw the greatest improvement in FDA food recalls with a 26.2 percent decrease over a 5-year-span;
  • In New Mexico, the majority of FDA food recalls occur in May; and
  • Nationwide, the top reason for food recalls was undeclared allergens (39 percent) and the most recalled food was sweets and desserts (19 percent).
