COUNTY News:
A community groundbreaking event for construction of the new Multi-Purpose Covered Arena at the North Mesa stables has been rescheduled for 3:30 p.m., Oct. 29 at Brewer Arena.
The event was originally set for last Friday afternoon but had to be canceled due to the massive hailstorm that hammered the area.
Building a covered arena for riding and exercising animals during inclement weather was approved by County Council at the budget hearings in May 2010.
The CIP Oversight Committee chose to move forward with 200’ x 75’ enclosed metal structure with three 25’ x 25’ covered pens on the east side of the structure; additionally a restroom would be included in the facility. The approved budget for this project is $786,421.
The site plan for the Covered Riding Arena was presented to the Planning and Zoning Board April 25.
The contractors working on the project are required to abide by the County noise ordinance, which limits the hours of operation from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the contractors have been directed to take special care to eliminate dust from the construction site.
A project website has been established to provide updates. Residents can visit www.losalamosnm.us under “Projects.”
The project website will be updated whenever new information becomes available.
