Navajo Technical University To Provide Distance Learning Opportunities

USDA News:

ALBUQUERQUE  USDA Rural Development State Director Terry Brunner will present a certificate of obligation to Navajo Technical University President Dr. Elmer Guy during ceremonies Thursday in Crownpoint, N.M.

The $447,748 Distance Learning Telemedicine (DLT) grant from USDA Rural Development will be used to provide distance learning opportunities throughout the Navajo Nation.

By providing the distance learning opportunities Navajo residents will the chance to obtain education, training, and industry level certifications needed to obtain skilled wage/high wage employment.

The DLT program helps rural communities use modern telecommunications technology to connect to schools to overcome the effects of remoteness and low population density found in rural America. This in turn allows students a better opportunity to get a higher education by never leaving their home or community.
