The Los Alamos County Council will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Nature Center at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 22 at the project site, 2600 Canyon Road, north of the Aquatic Center.
The public is invited to attend this event, which will be jointly hosted with the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC). PEEC has been selected as the contractor who will operate the Nature Center and provide programs to the public.
The Nature Center is planned to be approximately 6,000 square feet and will feature an exhibit area, a children’s “discovery” area, a multi-purpose meeting room for presentations and planetarium shows, an activity classroom, library and wildlife observation room and offices.
The site will incorporate an outdoor meeting space, gardens for education, and connection to trails.
