THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE In ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM TODAY:

FAR NORTHWEST HIGHLANDS-NORTHWEST HIGHLANDS-SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS-JEMEZ MOUNTAINS-WEST SLOPES SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS-NORTHERN SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS ABOVE 9500 FEET/RED RIVER-SOUTHERN SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS ABOVE 9,500 FEET-EAST SLOPES SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS-UPPER RIO GRANDE VALLEY-LOWER CHAMA RIVER VALLEY.

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM MST THIS EVENING.

  • SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…THROUGH THIS EVENING…2 TO 4 INCHES ADDITIONAL SNOW OVER THE SAN JUAN…TUSAS…AND SANGRE DE CRISTO RANGE…WITH 1 TO 3 INCHES ELSEWHERE IN THE WARNED AREA.
  • TIMING…SNOW…LOCALLY HEAVY AT TIMES…WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY BEFORE TAPERING OFF THIS EVENING.
  • WINDS…WEST TO NORTHWEST TO 15 MPH THROUGH THIS EVENING.
  • SNOW LEVELS…TEMPERATURES WILL BE COLD ENOUGH FOR SNOW AT ALL LOCATIONS.
  • LOCAL IMPACTS…SNOW COVERED ROADS MAY BECOME LOCALLY IMPASSABLE THROUGH THE DAY BEFORE SNOW TAPERS OFF LATE TONIGHT. EXPECT WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS ON HIGHWAYS 64 AND 84…AND HIGHWAYS 550 AND 285 THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING.
