NPS News:
The National Park Service invites the community to celebrate National Public Lands Day at Valles Caldera National Preserve Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024.
Each September, we come to support the park and spend a day volunteering and exploring beautiful Valles Caldera. National Public Lands Day is special because it provides all lovers of the environment an opportunity to show our appreciation for these unique places.
National Public Lands Day is more than a clean-up—it’s an event that creates kinship among those working together for a common goal, and an opportunity to use America’s public lands for education, recreation, and overall physical and mental health.
Give a morning of your time to help improve the experience at Valles Caldera.
For 2024, these are the following volunteer opportunities:
- Bumper log construction
- Litter pickup along NM-4
- Picnic table construction
- Plant biomass collection
Time and location: 9 a.m. at the park’s Entrance Station
Duration: 4 hours
Los Amigos de Valles Caldera will be providing lunch and a token of appreciation to those who RSVP and volunteer.
