CHAMISA News:
White Rock schools will kick off a multicultural fair, titled “Around the World in White Rock” thanks to the Great Ideas Grant from the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation.
This event, lead by Julie Bulthuis and Renee Mitsunaga, will take place 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 4 in the Chamisa Elementary School Gymnasium.
“Carnival” masks were created byChamisa and Pinon elementary schools with artist-in-residence/former LAPS teacher Thelma Hahn.
Hahn worked with 4th and 5th grade classes at Pinon with Stephanie Rittner and 5th and 6th grade classes at Chamisa with Mrs. Mitsunaga, creating the carnival masks.
All of the other grade levels participated in making masks that focused on famous artists, cultures and styles.
School-wide parades will be held at Pinon Elementary at 2:20 p.m. today, Friday March 29 and at 8:30 a.m. Monday, April 1 at Chamisa to show off the magnificent masks the students created.
The schools will come together again April 4 for this special celebration.
