MPL’s Quotes: The Authors Speak Series Presents Dede Feldman Thursday

Dede Feldman

MPL News:

Mesa Public Library’s Quotes: The Authors Speak Series presents aurthor and former New Mexico Sen. Dede Feldman at 7 p.m., Thursday in the Upstairs Rotunda at Mesa Public Library.

As the first woman elected as a New Mexico senator from Albuquerque’s near North Valley, Feldman was a pioneer for women in government. Serving as the state senator for District 13 from 1997 to 2012, Feldman has a long history of promoting campaign finance reform, improved health insurance in New Mexico, and election reform.

Now Feldman has authored a book about her experiences. Inside the New Mexico Senate: Boots, Suits and Citizens is a legislative history with a human face. Here maverick leaders, shameless special interests, and earnest advocates clash in the unique arena that is the New Mexico Roundhouse. The New Mexico Senate comes alive, with stories of grit and grace, honor and disgrace.

Feldman is part of this season’s Quotes series, appearing Thursday, May 22 for the evening Authors Speak event. Find more information at
