After reading about the backcountry skiing on Iceland’s Troll Peninsula, Andy Thien and five friends planned a two-week trip for April 2017. After flying into Reykjavik, they spent two days driving along the west coast to Akureyri, their ultimate destination for the trip. They spent two weeks there, skiing various locations along the Troll Peninsula.
Mother Nature didn’t always comply with their intentions, but they definitely had an incredible time nonetheless. On the final leg of their trip, they enjoyed countless waterfalls and jagged peaks along Iceland’s extremely scenic coast.
The Los Alamos Mountaineers meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Los Alamos Nature Center.
