A motorcycle driven by a Los Alamos man crashed into a guardrail Saturday evening sending him and his passenger to area hospitals.
According to the police report, Michael McNiel, 37, was driving his 2001 blue Yamaha westbound at 5:35 p.m. on Canyon Road just west of 15th Street and going down grade.
McNiel told police that the rear wheel seemed to slip and he lost control of his motorcycle. The motorcycle hit a guardrail and slid westbound, stopping in the eastbound lane with damage to the vehicle.
The driver and passenger, Diana Serrano, 29, of Epanola, both advised emergency responders that they were injured and they each had visible injuries, according to the report.
Los Alamos Fire Department EMTs transported McNiel to Los Alamos Medical Center. Serrano was airlifted to a hospital out of town, according to the report. The condition of the driver and passenger is not known. The damaged motorcycle was towed from the scene.
